Nirant is dual majoring in government and economics. In the fall of 2008, he took a leave from school to work as a field organizer with the Obama campaign. Nirant is the platform and initiative endorsements director for the California Young Democrats and has interned at the USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion. He is also his school's community service coordinator and is a 2010 International Leadership Foundation Fellow.
